About College

The first self-financing Engineering College in the name of Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) was started in Tamil Nadu in 1984 by Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust, established by the academic visionary Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan. The Trust then started Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, in 1989, which was first recognized as a Deemed-to-be University by MHRD in July 2002, under section 3 of UGC Act 1956 and placed under the purview of new trust of Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER). The Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and other institutions (below) was then brought under the ambit of Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER).

Admission

BIHER Chennai Admissions 2023: Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai offers admissions to diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. The BIHER Chennai B.Tech. admissions are done based on the performance of the candidate in the Bharath Engineering Entrance Examination (BEEE). The BIHER Chennai B.Arch. selection process is done based on scores obtained by the candidate in NATA. For the remaining BIHER Chennai courses, the admissions are done based on the performance of the candidate in the qualifying examination. Placement

Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai has a training and placement cell that looks after overall placement activities. The BIHER Chennai placements cell conducts a variety of guest lecturers, seminars and workshops by reputed members of the industry to help students with their placements. As per the NIRF report 2023, 376 3-year UG programme students, 2776 4-year UG programme students, 532 5-year UG programme students, 660 2-year PG programme students and 167 3-year PG programmes got placed during BIHER Chennai placements.
