 Panimalar Engineering College is a Christian minority institution of Higher Education, governed by Jaisakthi Educational Trust. The Trust, in conformity with the overall policy of the Tamilnadu government, established Panimalar Engineering College in the year 2000 in order to provide superior Engineering Education to aspiring kids.. The policy emphasizes to give high priority to meet the demand for trained engineers for various industrial and development projects in the state of Tamilnadu and the rest of India.

  The college is located on the Bangalore Trunk Road, Varadharajapuram, near Poonamallee, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and is well connected by road covering, Chennai, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur districts.

  Panimalar Engineering College is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and recognized by UGC with 12(B) & 2(f) status. The College is affiliated by Anna University.

  The Institute offers 13 UG and 3 PG Courses options. These programs are available in full-time mode.  Panimalar Engineering College is a prestigious institute offering B.E./B.Tech, MBA/PGDM, and M.E./M.Tech programs. Candidates can study a variety of courses in the fields of Engineering, Business, and Management Studies. Panimalar Engineering College has gained expertise in the fields of Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering through its trained and experienced faculty.

   It has a highly reputed and strong faculty of strength of 3500 members. A Training Cell is present in the college to enhance the capabilities of engineering graduates to meet the industry standards.

  Students should have 50% in their 10+2 qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. To be considered for Admission in the college. TNEA rank will be considered. The final selection will be based on the entrance exams.

  Secretary and Correspondent of Panimalar College of Engineering, Dr. P. Chinnadurai, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D is the forerunner in implementing the vision of its Chairman which is to foster excellence in education. His aim is to enable the college in the next five years to break into a top notch private institute of the country through continued dedication to the cause of knowledge dissemination and giving out the radiance of knowledge and wisdom.

  With a campus area of 52.87 acres, the college has 1 boys and 1 girls hostel. They provide high tech digital library with books and periodicals and educational journals, Audio-visual equipments, Medical healthcare centres, Hardware and Software in computer labs, dining area with Cafeteria as well as transportation facilities. All the individual departments have adequate number of LCD projectors and OHPs. These are under regular service contracts and periodical inspection is carried out by suppliers.

  There is a full-fledged building constructed and maintained by 3 site engineers and 17 members including assistant engineers, supervisors and workmen altogether 20. Their responsibilities include periodical maintenance of the buildings, apart from planning and construction of new buildings or extensions.

Its Overall ranking by National Institutional Ranking Framework Innovation is 51 out of 312 colleges in India in 2023 and it was 6 out of 50 colleges in India in 2020. It was ranked 100+ by NIRF 2017. It is ranked 201 for B.Tech by NIRF 2020.
